Department of Persian Language and Literature

Persian language with a treasure trove of the world’s preeminent jewels of literature, is the manifestation of Iran’s culture and the world of Islam, and the memory of the mind and language of the greatest Persian scholars and speakers, who gave the extract of their extraordinary thoughts as a memory and made the Persian literature as the greatest sources of human culture. Department of Persian Language and Literature of Golestan University is proud to have contributed to the teaching of the precious intellectual and mental heritage of Iranian grandees and scholars. The Department of Persian Language and Literature, with the participation of two faculty members, started its activities at the same time of the establishment of Golestan University in 2007 with the acceptance of undergraduate students. In 2011, after graduating the first undergraduate students, the postgraduate program of studies was launched with four full-time faculty members. Now, five faculty members with a Ph.D. in Persian Language and Literature and two faculty members with a Ph.D. degree in Arabic Language and Literature are cooperating with this department. The specialized journal, "Critical Literature Studies," which has received the permit to publish by the Ministry of Science and Islamic Guidance and addresses the analysis of texts, has been published since 2014. Students’ education is based on their interest in literary criticism, the analysis of classical and contemporary texts, editing, stylistics, writing creative texts, or writing scientific articles. After graduation, students can work in various fields such as teaching, editing in various publishing areas, article writing in newspapers and journals. They can also work in cultural and administrative departments of various organizations and institutions.
