History of Faculty of Geography

The Department of Geography with 3 faculty members was officially established in 2006 with the acceptance of students in Natural Geography in undergraduate program of studies at Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. After the establishment of Golestan University and its separation from Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources in 2008, seven geography departments as well as other departments of the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Faculty of Sciences joined the newly founded Golestan University. The department of Geography now has 10 full-time faculty members in different sub-disciplines in 2 undergraduate and 3 postgraduate program of studies.
